Mitsui Teams Up with Shenhua Group to Expand Coal Operations

Mitsui & Co has teamed up with Shenhua Group Corp to expand coal operations in China, Japan and beyond. The companies will jointly develop the supply of overseas coal to China, coal mine projects in Mongolia, and the production and marketing of basic chemical feedstock and derivatives

Mitsui & Co has teamed up with Shenhua Group Corp to expand coal operations in China, Japan and beyond.

The companies will jointly develop the supply of overseas coal to China, coal mine projects in Mongolia, and the production and marketing of basic chemical feedstock and derivatives produced from coal and environmental projects.

The companies are also reportedly planning to bid together for development rights of the Tavan Tolgoi coal project in Mongolia.

Rival bidders include a consortium of Japan's Itochu Corp, Sumitomo Corp, Marubeni Corp and Sojitz Corp, reports the Nikkei Business Daily.
