India's National Aluminum Co (Nalco) is looking to acquire a coal mine in Indonesia to secure fuel supplies for its planned power plant in East Kalimantan province.

In a statement, Nalco said it wants to buy a coal mine with 500 million metric tons of resources that can produce ten million tons annually, starting in 2014.

The company has invited bids from Indonesian coal companies, which are required to submit offers within a month.

Nalco plans to spend an estimated $4bn to build an aluminium smelter with an annual capacity of 500,000t and a 1,250MW coal-fired power plant in East Kalimantan.
