China's Zijin Mining said a government order of suspension of all non-coal underground mines in Shandong province has shut down two mines in the area, impacting the company's annual production target.

On 7 August the Yantai Government issued an immediate suspension of production and rectification of all non-coal mines underground for safety inspection following a fatal fire caused by overheated underground power cables located at the Luoshan gold mine.

Zijin said the closure of its Longkou Jinfeng and Longkou Jintai mines will affect its estimated annual output.

Zijin added the mines can apply to the local government to reopen after the company completes its own examination, and production can resume after the sites have passed an inspection.
