Zambia's copper output climbed 16% in the first half of 2010 as mine output increased following the easing of the global economic crisis.

The country produced 393,089t of copper during the first half of the year and is on track to reach its annual target of 750,000t.

In 2009 Zambia produced just under 700,000t of copper as mines resumed operations after being suspended due to the economic downturn.

Meanwhile, the country's cobalt production more than doubled to 4,057t from 1,967t last year, reports Reuters.
