Zijin Mining Group, China's largest gold producer, is still processing wastewater from a copper plant following a leak that poisoned fish, according to local government officials.
The Longyan Government of Fujian province said safety risks will exist until all the waste is processed, reports Bloomberg.
Zijin Mining spokesman Zhao Jugang said the company has checked all its plants to avoid a repeat of the waste leak. He also said the town needs to process another 200,000t of wastewater.
Meanwhile, the Guangdong Government has stopped all fishing in the Ting River until the end of July amid concerns the spill is spreading to the province.
