Aquila Resources said a study has confirmed the technical and economic feasibility of the Washpool hard coking coal project in Queensland, Australia.

The study proposes a 4mtpa open-cut mining operation producing 1.6mtpa of hard coking coal over 25 years.

Construction of the $320m mine is scheduled in 2012 with first coal mined early in 2013.

Aquila said the area is a major coking coal resource that would be economically and technically viable.
