Fluor Corp has won a $1.3bn contract from Minera Lumina Copper Chile to deliver engineering, procurement and construction management services for the Caserones copper mine project in central Chile.
The services will be carried out for the project’s facilities, utilities and mine-related infrastructure about 13,000ft above sea level.
Fluor said the work is currently underway and is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2013.
The Caserones project has an output of 3.6 million tons of fine copper and 87kt of molybdenum and will process around 105,000t a day of primary and secondary copper ore.
Minera Lumina Copper Chile is jointly owned by Pan Pacific Copper and Mitsui.
