Contracting, engineering and services provider John Holland has won a $260m contract to carry out mine operations at the Isaac Plains coal mine in Queensland, Australia.

The work will be delivered on behalf of Isaac Plains Coal Management.

Under the 30-month contract the company will supply complete service mining operations covering clearing, topsoil stripping, truck excavator waste removal, drill and blast, coal mining, rejects haulage, dump profiling and rehabilitation activities.

John Holland will transport 3.6 million tonnes of coal and 26 million cubic metres of waste in the initial year of operation.

The final agreement, which came into force from 1 January, will extend to 30 June 2012.
