Metanor Resources has halted operations at its Bachelor Lake gold mine in Quebec Province, Canada, after a flood killed one miner and left two missing.

The news had a negative affect on the junior miner’s shares last night, which dropped 22% as searches continued for the remaining two miners.

The Canadian gold producer said it lost contact with two of its miners, and another working for contractor Montali after they were working late on repair work in an inundated part of the mine, according to Reuters.

The body of one miner has been found to date with authorities saying they have lost hope of finding the third miner alive.

Mining rescue and medical teams were sent while company personnel pumped water from the inundated part of the mine.

The cause of the accident is still not clear.
