Equinox Minerals expects its Lumwana copper mine in Zambia to produce at the low end of estimates previously released.
During the latest quarter, Lumwana continued the ramp-up work for both the process plant and mine operations, producing more than the first and second quarter.
But Equinox said it expects nearly 110,000t of copper production in 2009 compared with previous estimates of 110,000-120,000t, Reuters reports.
Preliminary production statistics for the third quarter include 29.89 metric tonnes of total material movement, an increase of 44% compared to the previous quarter.
In the third quarter, 4.02 metric tonnes of ore was mined, which represents a 33% increase compared to the previous period.
Copper generated in concentrate was 28,111t.
