Happy Creek Minerals has started drilling work at its Rateria copper mine that adjoins the Highland Valley copper mine owned by Teck Resources in British Colombia, Canada.

The 2009 diamond drilling programme is expected to expand on the drill results obtained from Zone 1 and 2 that were initially found by Happy Creek between 2006 and 2008.

Zone 1 results included 100m grading at 0.29% copper, 84m at 0.30% and 10.4m at 1.55%.

Zone 2 drilling found two positive drill intercepts 200m apart.

Additional drilling is planned to test for extensions of Zone 2 that occur in a 5km-long corridor defined by positive geophysical and geological information.

Happy Creek owns more than 140km2 of mineral claims in the copper mining area and has identified other prospective targets that are also planned for drilling this year.
