Australian miner Golden Rim has secured an additional licence for its Sepola Gold Project in Western Mali, extending its exploration area by 32km².

The Tintinba Quest licence is located to the east of the Sepola Project and has an inferred resource base of 162,000oz of gold.

Little exploration has been done but a review of aeromagnetic data shows that several major structures are expected to contain significant gold mineralisation, the company said.

Exploration near the western boundary of the area returned a significant rock chip assay of 1.76 g/t gold from a quartz vein float sample.

Golden Rim will initially conduct geological mapping and surface sampling along with a detailed aeromagnetic survey for the entire Sepola Gold Project.

Some of the costs of the survey will be shared with several major gold companies operating in the region.

Drilling is expected to begin at Sepola in mid-June 2009.
