Gold Fields Asked to Close After Fatalities

Gold Fields has been asked by authorities to close its Kloof mine, located west of Johannesburg in South Africa, after three workers died in separate seismic events. Two people died at the mine's number 7 shaft on Wednesday due to tremors which measured 1.5 on the Richter scale.

Another employee was fatally injured on Tuesday due to a seismic incident 225m below surface in the main shaft.
