Centrex Metals has secured a ten-year mining lease for the Wilgerup iron ore project on the central Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.
Centrex will invest $50m in the hematite project which is due to commence next year.
Wilgerup is expected to produce two million tonnes of iron ore annually, with the first export shipment from the site planned in May 2010.
The project is expected to create 150 jobs locally.
Centrex also plans to construct an export facility at nearby Port Lincoln if planning approval can be secured.
