Macmahon Holdings has bagged a $110m underground engineering construction contract from Cobar Management for the CSA copper mine in New South Wales, Australia.

Under the two-year contract, Macmahon will provide services such as engineering design, fabrication, procurement, construction and management of the extension and upgrade of the CSA No. 1 Shaft.

The work will also include construction of a new head frame and the supply of an underground materials handling system including crusher, ore bins, conveyors and a loading station.

On completion, the new underground materials handling and shaft hoisting system will have a capacity of 1.6Mtpa from a depth of 1,500m.
