Lanco Secures Coal Contract for Indian Project

Lanco Infratech has been selected by Maha Tamil Collieries (MTC) as the developer and operator of the Gare Pelma II Coal block in Chhattisgarh state, India.

Under the contract, Lanco Infratech will develop and operate the mine, which has geological reserves of about 800Mt of coal, and set up a power plant.

Lanco Infratech executive chairman Madhusudan Rao said, "The Mahatamil project offers 100% assured domestic coal supply for 2,000MW with a captive mine,
saving the project from high cost fuel mix, avoiding infrastructure and logistics issues and, at the same
time, providing a reliable and economical fuel source."
