The South Australian Government has approved Centrex Metal's environmental protection and rehabilitation programme in Eyre Peninsula.

With this approval Centrex will mine the Wilgerup deposit, which is expected to produce between 1Mt and 1.5Mtpa of direct shipping ore for up to seven years.

Centrex had originally intended to ship Wilgerup iron ore via Port Lincoln but, based on a review conducted last year, the firm has decided to reschedule mine start-up and route all the shipments through the new Sheep Hill port, which is expected to be operational in late 2014.
