Coal of Africa (CoAL) has been granted environmental authorisation for its Vele coking coal project in the Limpopo Province, South Africa.

The authorisation has been granted by the Department of Environmental Affairs.

CoAL is expecting to complete the construction phase at Vele project within six to nine months and will increase its initial production to 1Mtpa.

CoAL CEO John Wallington said this development is a significant step towards the re-opening of the mine.
