Outotec Secures Iron Pelletizing Plant Contract in Brazil

Finland-based Outotec has received a €200m contract from Samarco Mineração to deliver an iron ore pelletizing plant in Brazil.

The plant will be installed at Samarco's iron ore port in Espírito Santo, Brazil, and is expected to treat about 9.25Mt of iron ore per year on a 816m² travelling grate indurating machine.

Outotec will provide services such as conceptual and detailed engineering, project management, supply, construction and start-up of the pelletizing plant.

The plant is scheduled to be operational at the end of 2013.

Outotec CEO Pertti Korhonen said Samarco's new mega-size plant will comply with the latest environmental regulations and will provide a benchmark for future plants in terms of sustainability, efficiency and capacity.
