Eldorado Gold’s subsidiary Tuprag Metal Madencilik Sanayi ve Ticaret has received key permits for its gold projects in Turkey.
The firm has received a trail operating permit for its Efemcukuru gold project in Izmir Province for a period of one year, which will allow it to carry out commissioning of the process facilities and to commence gold production.
With this permit, the firm will apply for a mine operating permit, which will be issued when the project demonstrates full compliance with the operational, safety and environmental parameters.
The firm has also received supplementary environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval for the expansion of the Kisladag gold mine in Usak Province.
Tuprag will increase the mine's annual throughput by 25% to about 12.5Mt of ore, which will be processed through the heap leach.
The EIA also covers the expansion of the process facilities on site to include a treatment plant where final gold extraction from the flotation concentrate generated at the Efemcukuru project will be carried out.
