Thiess has received a A$222m ($237.1m) contract extension from Peabody Energy Australia to continue mining operations at the Wilpinjong Coal Mine in New South Wales, Australia. Mine owner Peabody Energy Australia has extended the current contract by 15 months until 31 March 2013. <

Mine owner Peabody Energy Australia has extended the current contract by 15 months until 31 March 2013.

The coal mine produces high-quality thermal coal and ships it to Macquarie Generation under a long-term contract.

Thiess constructed the Wilpinjong Coal Mine in 2006 and mined the first coal in 2007.
