Gindalbie Metals has awarded a contract to Briety to supply haematite mining and associated services at its Karara iron ore project in Western Australia.
Under the $185m contract, which will last four years, Brierty will undertake direct shipping iron ore mining services operations at Karara's Blue Hills North and Terapod deposits including drill and blast, load and haul, crushing and screening and road haulage.
Brierty will also supervise train-loading activities of both haematite ore and magnetite concentrate, at the Karara rail loop, which is currently under construction.
Gindalbie Metals managing director Tim Netscher said that establishing a haematite mining business would allow the company to commence early testing of important components of the firm's production and shipping system, while gaining valuable cash flow during its capital expenditure phase.
Mining activities are scheduled to commence this month.
