Petaquilla Minerals is planning to increase its grinding and processing capacity as part of the expansion of its production system at the Molejon gold mine facility in Panama.

The firm will install a third drum scrubber to increase the processing of clays and a new horizontal carbon-in-column circuit (CIC) to increase the gold adsorption capacity by 80% and to improve the gold recovery efficiency from the milling system and heap leach operations.

These installations will increase the production capacity to 1,000t/day and about 1,200oz of gold monthly from the third quarter of 2011.

The firm will also initiate the procurement of a fourth ball-mill, two leach tanks and two carbon-in pulp tanks to increase the production capacity to 1,000t/day and gold recovery of additional 2,000oz monthly from the first quarter of 2012.
