Metso has secured a contract to supply mineral processing equipment and services to the two processing lines at Northland Resources's Kaunisvaara iron ore project in northern Sweden.
Under the $293m contract, Metso will supply completed equipment packages for the processing plant, along with two primary gyratory crushers, two autogenous grinding mills, seven vertical grinding mills, magnetic separators and seven VPA press filters.
The contract also covers engineering, electrical and automation, and the construction of the process plant.
On completion, the annual capacity of the process plant will be 12 million tons of dry iron ore and 5 million tons of iron ore concentrate.
Northland Resources' president and CEO Karl-Axel Waplan said the agreement supports the firm's goal of keeping the project on time and on budget.
