Australia-based OceanaGold is planning to start the construction of its Didipio gold-copper project in the Philippines within the next few months.

The firm has awarded the engineering, design and procurement contract to Ausenco and has completed the purchase of key equipment.

The mine plan is currently being reviewed as part of OceanaGold's plan for expansion of the plant post commencement of production.

The tailings storage facility conceptual design is now complete and detailed design has commenced, with recent adjustments being made to lower the risks involved in the construction schedule by reducing the dependency on building during the dry season.
