Leighton Receives $317m Gold Mining Contracts

Leighton Holdings has won two gold mining contracts in Australia for a total value of $317m.

Newcrest Mining awarded a $200m contract to Leighton for the Telfer gold mine in Western Australia, which will run for 27 months.

Under the contract, Leighton will provide mining equipment, operators, maintenance and supervisory personnel, and infrastructure including workshops and offices.

Crocodile Gold Australia also awarded a $117m contract to the firm for the Cosmo Deeps underground gold mine in the Northern Territory.

For this project, Leighton will provide completed mining services along with short-term scheduling, diamond drilling, decline and level development, ground support installation and shotcreting, production drilling, blasting and haulage.

The Crocodile Gold contract might be extended in line with the estimated mine life of ten years.
