India and Canada Sign MoU to Develop Mineral Resources

The Indian Ministry of Mines and the Ministry of Energy and Resources of the Province of Saskatchewan, Canada, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the mineral resources and geology area.

Under the MoU, the two countries will develop geological and mineral resources, and promote investment in mining and related activities such as mineral exploration and development, mining investment, transfer of technology and development of joint ventures in India and Canada.

The MoU will also enable cooperation on technologies, services and supplies related to prospecting, exploration, mining and beneficiation of mineral resources.

In addition, the cooperation programme will include human resources development in geosciences, minerals and metals, promotion of investment including fertiliser minerals, uranium, diamonds, and information on research and development.

Other areas of cooperation include mining tenement application, environmental technologies and services, including sustainable development of technologies and techniques.
