Fortescue Metals Group has discovered over a billion tons of high-grade Brockman iron formation at the Nyidinghu project in Western Australia.
The Nyidinghu project, located 35km south of Fortescue’s Cloudbreak operation on the edge of the Hamersley Ranges, is open to the north where intersections of over 100m were encountered.
The new discovery at Nyidinghu will produce a new high-value blend, extending the life of the mines.
The firm is working on options to maximise the value of the new discovery in combination of its existing mines and infrastructure.
