Bathurst Resources has announced a deal with Westport Harbour for the exclusive use of a coal-handling facility to ship coal from its Buller project.

Under the terms of the agreement, the firm will transport the coal by rail from Buller to the port, where Westport Harbour will provide coal-handling services to receive, unload, stockpile and store coal, and load vessels.

Westport Harbour will construct a coal unloading system, stockpile area, ship loader and a wharf, as part of its coal handling services.

Bathurst will pay Westport Harbour to use these facilities.

Coal volumes are expected to reach two million tons within three years.
