Vedanta Resources' Indian subsidiary Sterlite Industries has acquired the Lisheen zinc mine in Ireland from Anglo American's Taurus International for $546m.

In 2010, Vedanta Resources announced the acquisition of Anglo American's zinc assets for a total of $1.3bn including Skorpion mine in Namibia, Lisheen mine in Ireland and Black Mountain Mining in South Africa.

The acquisitions of the Skorpion mine and a 74% stake in the Black Mountain mine were completed in December 2010 and February 2011, for cash considerations of approximately $707m and $348m respectively.
