Thiess Sedgman to Expand Australian Coal Plant

Thiess and Sedgman's joint venture firm, Thiess Sedgman, has received a contract to expand the coal handling and preparation plant at the Lake Vermont coal mine in central Queensland, Australia.

Under the $145m contract, Thiess will design, procure, construct and commission an expansion of the plant on behalf of Lake Vermont Resources.

The facility will be upgraded by the joint venture firm to produce up to four million tons of additional coal per annum.

The plant was originally designed and constructed in 2009.
