Arch Coal has signed a five-year agreement with Canadian Crown Corporation Ridley Terminals (RTI) to export coal to Canada’s Pacific Coast.

Arch will have an output of two million tons of coal for 2011 at the terminal and up to 2.5 million tons of coal for 2012 through 2015.

Arch chairman and CEO Steven Leer said the deal complements its investment in the Millennium Bulk Terminal and will facilitate the expansion of its business into the Asia-Pacific region.

RTI president George Dorsey said the agreement will enable the company to double its capacity by 2015.

The company aims to reach 24 million tons of coal loading capacity per annum by 2015 from its 12 million ton capacity.
