Detour Gold has begun construction on its Detour Lake gold project in north-eastern Ontario, Canada.
The company has invested over C$500m in project expenditures.
Detour has contracted Detour Lake Constructors to install the first 135km segment of the power line from the site to Island Falls power station.
In addition, three of the five 1.2MW units for the temporary power station have been installed.
Construction work is scheduled to be completed by end of April 2011.
The company is also planning a C$14m (US$14.2m) exploration programme for 2011 on the property, with five target areas.
