Australian base metals developer Heron Resources has awarded a port services contract for its Woodlawn zinc-copper project in New South Wales (NSW) to Port Kembla Gateway (PKG).
Under the deal, PKG will provide receiving, storage and shiploading services for 100% of the zinc and copper concentrate produced from the project for at least five years.

The port services contract also has an option to extend beyond the initial term.
The Woodlawn zinc-copper project is near Tarago, which is 250km south-west of Sydney, NSW.
The deal will see zinc and copper concentrates transported from the mine site by road to PKG’s facilities in the Outer Harbour, Port Kembla, where they will be unloaded into sheds designed for the storage of mineral concentrates and warehoused ahead of shipping.

PKG is an Australian owned and operated private company that was established in the 1980s to service the previous operations at the Woodlawn Mine.
PKG’s facilities now include a two-berth jetty, ancillary storage sheds and buildings, hardstand areas, ship loading and unloading equipment, as well as general equipment for the handling and temporary storage of cargo.
Currently, the company offers storage and handling services for the export of copper concentrates from NSW mines and other bulk commodities.
