Austin Engineering Engineered Mining and Earthmoving Products

Austin Engineering is a leading designer and manufacturer of customised dump truck bodies, buckets and ancillary products used in the mining industry, including the reputable JEC and Westech brands.
Austin Engineering offers its customers on and off-site repair and maintenance on all of their products and heavy equipment lifting services.
With a presence in some of the world’s principal mining regions, Austin Engineering provides high-quality, cost-effective solutions that are delivered on time and backed up by through-life product support.
Off-highway dump truck bodies
Its work with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and customers has given Austin Engineering the expertise to solve engineering challenges and to deliver site-specific solutions. The company supplies customised bodies and excavator buckets for all makes and models of trucks, including Caterpillar, Komatsu and Hitachi.
Austin Engineering dump truck bodies are manufactured under a quality-assured system and offer increased payload, reliability and maximised pass-matching. The company is constantly innovating and developing new styles, such as the Westech Flow Control body, which improves dust control and reduces maintenance.
Mining excavator buckets
Buckets for mining excavators and wheel loaders in the 60t to 650t class are designed and manufactured to offer solutions for any application, whether hard rock, iron ore or coal.
Experienced engineers will match carrying capacity with bucket weight and material density, to ensure top performance and meet OEM specifications. Mining excavator and wheel loader buckets are customised across a wide range of GET and wear package options.
The benefits of an Austin Engineering bucket include fast cycle times, better penetration and pass-matching, to maximise machine efficiency.
Ancillary mining products
A wide range of ancillary mining products are available, including:
- Water tank modules
- Lubrication service and fuel modules
- Material-handling attachments
- Tyre-handling equipment
The T3 Tyre Handler is designed for use in underground and confined spaces, as well as above ground. Its unique third arm gives extra stability, making tyre maintenance safer. Its reduced height, compact size and increased rotation result in greater efficiency. The T3 is suitable for use on a wide range of mine trucks and wheel loaders, and facilitates attachment tooling for use with materials-handling equipment.
The Stair Access Water Tank module from Austin Engineering can be fitted to OEM equipment to support dust suppression or firefighting and includes spray tools. Unlike traditional water tank modules, the Stair Access module has larger baffle openings with a direct line of travel, to improve operator safety when performing maintenance work in confined spaces. The innovative baffle design reduces surging and improves truck stability by up to 18%.

Improved Dust Control for Off-Highway Dump Trucks
Loading, dumping and moving over-burden is a major source of dust emissions at coal mines. A typical coal mining operation can generate around 25% of their total dust emissions through the dumping process.
