CiDRA’s vice president and chief strategy officer, Dr. Alan D. Kersey, was invited to speak at the SPIE sponsored House of Representatives Research and Development Caucus, on 17 April 2012, with a case study on ‘enabling innovation in sensor technology’. The event focused on next generation job creation and the sensing technologies for manufacturing, medicine and environmental safety.

Dr. Kersey presented the model CiDRA uses to effectively take early stage R&D into end-user applications, generally in high value-industrial sensing for natural resources processing.

The public event focused on questions such as:

  • What do entrepreneurs see as barriers to innovation and U.S. competitiveness?
  • How are decisions made about where to locate manufacturing?
  • Why are these companies able to commercialize technology when others fail?
