This latest Auralia Mining quarterly update starts with director Anthony Keers, who recently made a site visit out to India, spending two weeks in the north-western state of Rajasthan to provide technical engineering expertise to Hindustan Zinc, consulting on mine dilution initiatives as part of the T400 project team.

Anthony reviewed both the Rajpura Dariba and Zawar mines in the north-western state, with a view to provide expert insights on underground mining dilution control and to help bring the two sites up to globally recognised standards.

Anthony said that he enjoyed the experience and interaction with the on-site staff, and was looking forward to seeing his suggestions being implemeted on-site to help reduce overall mine dilution.

Anthony has also been kept busy with various open pit and underground mine engineering works for Troy Resources’ projects in Brazil and Argentina, as well as underground mining due dilligence studies in Kalgoorlie, western Australia for Barrick Gold (Kanowna).

Since our last update, Noel Rollo has finished a successful tenure working onsite at Mt Cattlin with the Galaxy Resources team where one of his greatest achievements was to help facilitate a doubling of the daily onsite production rate. Noel has since started working with the corporate team at Terrain Minerals as project manager, applying his expertise and experience to several projects in the pipeline.

Director Steve Lampron completed his tenure out at Integra Mining’s Randalls gold project. After a brief holiday period he then moved onto whittle-training work for Crescent Gold and worked in updating the mining reserves for the Nullagine gold project (along with fellow-director Daniel Tuffin) for Millenium Minerals.

Managing director Daniel Tuffin has also been kept busy most recently visiting The Kingdom of Thailand to carry out an onsite engineering audit for Padaeng Industry. Daniel was impressed with the advancements made by the mining team in best practices, both in mine planning and production.

Our other Auralia staff and associates have been working in a variety of roles for several clients since the last quarterly update in June, including:

  • Resource geology modelling for Pheonix Gold
  • LoM Scheduling for Galaxy Resources
  • Design and mine plan reviews for Catalpa Resources

Mining events

The past few months have been busy for Auralia. We have provided sponsorship to the following mining events: the AusIMM Large Open Conference at Burswood Dome and the WASM Graduates Ball at the Sheraton Hotel.

Both events were well-organised and well-attended. Auralia looks forward to providing further support to both the AusIMM and the WASM Graduates Association in the future.

Managing director Daniel Tuffin would also like to thank all those past, present and new mining friends, colleagues and clients that he caught up with at the 2010 Diggers and Dealers conference in Kalgoorlie in August, and looks forward doing so again in 2011.
