Industrial gearbox specialist Hansen Industrial Transmissions (HIT), formerly in hands of Hansen Transmissions International (HTI), and acquired by Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI) in March 2011, is ready to move forward under its new ownership. In combination with its extended product portfolio for dedicated drive solutions, HIT, this week, simultaneously introduces its new identity at the Hanover Fair and the Maintenance Show in Antwerp.
“It has been quite a journey since Sumitomo Heavy Industries announced its bid in October 2010 to acquire all outstanding shares of Hansen Industrial Transmissions,” says managing director Torsten Schultz of HIT. “But we are pleased that after the completion of the acquisition last month, we can now start working on a bright and exciting future. Being a wholly-owned subsidiary of a distinguished and financially strong Group such as SHI whilst being able to focus on our core business is the scenario we had hoped for. The acquisition of HIT by SHI is as such an important, but above all, a promising new milestone in our rich company history.”

Under the new ownership, HIT aims to realize synergy effects to the improvement of the customers’ value through the close cooperation with SHI’s Power Transmission and Control (PTC) division. From now on, SHI and HIT will evaluate divers marketing topics for both companies on a global and regional level and will carefully consider product synergies and strategies to become a true global player.
