Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group has acquired the South African business of Tyre Corporation (Tyre).

Financial details of the transaction have not been revealed.

Through this acquisition, Kal Tire intends to expand its footprint of its Mining Tire Group in South Africa.

Tyre has been operating in South Africa for 12 years and has completely equipped branches across the country.

Tyre sales director Patrick Brown said: “We are very pleased to be joining forces with a company like Kal Tire who has such a strong reputation in the industry and understands the mining tire business as well as they do.”

A provider of full-service customised mining tire solutions across five continents, Kal Tire will absorb 800 Tyre staff members across 80 South Africa mine sites.

Existing Tyre customers can now have access to other Kal Tire services such as Kal Tire’s exclusive Ultra Repair process for ultra-class tires and other tire service innovations.
