Zijin Mining to Cut Gold Production

29 July 2010

Zijin Mining will reduce gold mining production by one ton this year following waste leakage in China's Fujian province.

The company said it is required to maintain low production levels to reduce wastewater and ease pressure on the environment at its gold and copper mine and to prepare for typhoons.

Production will also be reduced while the company meets discharge standards of wastewater and maintains internal recycling of production solutions.

The company produced 75.37t of gold last year.
