Workers of Spence copper mine in Chile have reached a consensus with owner BHP Billiton regarding wages, putting to an end a six-week-long strike.
On 13 October, Spence miners began a strike after the union rejected BHP's offer of $15,000 in bonuses and a 4% wage increase following a government-assisted mediation period.
According to a 41-month long contract, the miners agreed to a 4% wage hike and a $13,961 one-time bonus apart from other benefits, BHP said.
Once miners vote on the proposal at the mine, BHP will then resume production.
The miners' strike had caused the company to lose 500t of production a day.
