Nigeria Digs for Chinese Relations

18 November 2009

Nigeria says it is keen to collaborate with Chinese companies to further develop the Nigerian mining sector, especially in the area of gold.

Minister of Mines and Steel Development Diezani Alison - Madueke said the Nigerian Government is making efforts to team up with local and global investors that are interested in expanding the country's mining sector.

“[The] Federal Government has put in place regulatory parameters with the enactment of the Minerals and Mining Act of 2007 to revive and revitalise the mining sector,” Alison told allAfrica.

“Several junior mining operators found more than expected commercial quantities of high-quality gold during exploration activity.”
