Australia's Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has signed a A$25m, five-year strategic research alliance agreement with Australian public company Orica for mining and energy research.
CSIRO chief executive Megan Clark said the alliance will boost Australia's science capability by enhancing the international competitiveness of the Australian industry.
"The alliance will engage our programmes in manufacturing, materials and minerals, embracing three of CSIRO's national research flagships: Future Manufacturing, Minerals Down Under and Energy Transformed," Clark said.
CSIRO will concentrate on the development of long-term R&D capabilities to benefit Australia and Orica and the execution of joint capability and new business initiatives.
It will focus on tactical projects to benefit current business work in the short to medium term, especially those associated with the mining and infrastructure industry sectors.
