Mining giant BHP Billiton says it is unaware of any move by China to take substantial shares in the company, in a response to Australian media reports earlier this week.
A report in The Australian newspaper claimed Chinese authorities were planning to take a nine percent or more stake in the miner, leading to a jump in share prices.
But the company told the Australian Securities Exchange that is was unaware of a proposed acquisition by Chinese authorities of a substantial stake in the company, writes Associated Press.
