Areva to Double Uranium Production With New Ventures

20 March 2008 15:47

Nuclear power company Areva is to invest €3bn into mining about ten new deposits around the world to double its annual uranium production.

The company has signed a partnership agreement with TSU Project - a joint venture with nuclear fuel cycle engineering company SGN and engineering company Technip – to help manage the projects.

Areva also plans to double its annual uranium production from its current 6,000 metric tons in 2007 over the next five years by speeding up the Imouraren and Trekkopie projects, in Niger and Namibia respectively.
