Altona Moves to Build Australian CTL Plant

Australian energy company Altona Resources has completed a pre-feasibility study for the development of an integrated coal-to-liquids plant at its Arckaringa project in South Australia.

The plans, which include a co-generation power facility, follow the completion of drilling at the Wintinna Coal Deposit last month.

The company says sufficient total drilling and sampling was achieved from 20 boreholes, estimating approximately 700 million tonnes of coal.

The pre-feasibility study is set to continue for a further two months before proceeding with the final feasibility stage.

The company says it hopes to target the Australian and Asian markets for the project's future production of high value liquid fuels.
