Allegiance Upgrades Nickel Mine

15 January 2008

Sydney-based Allegiance Mining says its Avebury Nickel Mine holds around ten percent more nickel than previously estimated.

The company, which is fighting a hostile takeover from Australian miner Zinifex, has upgraded the resource at its Avebury project in Tasmania by 14,000t to 172,000t ahead of its promise to kick off nickel production this quarter.

Allegiance says more exploration work could see the size of the mine grow even larger.
