Monsoon Halts Kagara Mining in Queensland

09 January 2008

A monsoon has halted operations at two Kagara-owned pit mines in North Queensland, Australia.

Over 200mm of rain fell at the Balcooma and Mt Garnet operations on Tuesday night, writes AAP.

The company stockpiled ore following flooding and a pit wall slip at Balcooma during similar weather last year, Kagara CEO Joe Treacy says.

Open pit mining is expected to resume in the next couple of days.
