Ranger Mine Resumes Operations

07 January 2008

Australian miner Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) has resumed mining operations at its Ranger site in Australia, owner Rio Tinto announced today.

Uranium mining was halted last Friday due to Cyclone Helen, which threatened to flood mining operations.

A Rio spokesperson told Reuters that all operations were now back to normal.

The Ranger mine produced 3,859t of uranium in the first nine months of 2007.

Rio Tinto has a 68.4 percent stake in subsidiary ERA.
