Newcrest Mining, Australia's largest gold miner, has reported an 18 percent increase in fiscal first-quarter gold output at mines in Australia and Indonesia.
Gold output rose to 448,103oz (12.7 metric tons) in the three months ending 30 September, from 379,701oz in 2006.
Copper output fell 5.6 percent to 23,101 metric tons.
